Happy to announce the launch of this new iPhone app produced by Amblr for the Wellcome Collection. I did some editing of the audio and wish I was in London to try it out!

The ‘Magic in Modern London’ iPhone app is a treasure hunt set in Edwardian London. It focuses on the amulets collected by Edward Lovett featured in ‘Charmed Life' and his investigations into folklore and superstition.

Retrace Lovett’s steps, using evocative audio and images which bring his London to life, as you search for the exact location where each amulet was collected. Retrieve each amulet to unlock its story as told to Lovett, and complete the set to reunite his collection.

'Magic in Modern London' is free and is available from the iTunes app store.

'Magic in Modern London' has been developed by Amblr, a developer, producer and publisher of location-based experiences, and is conceived and produced by Alex Butterworth, author of ’The World That Never Was’.

The London Chronicles - wonderful new series on the World Service. Click photo to listen via the BBC WS website.
“London could claim to be the capital of the world in 2012.

It will host the Olympics Games and mark the 60th year of the Queen’s reign.
But away from the pomp and tradition, what is life like for the nearly eight million people who call it home?
The London Chronicles by Francesca Panetta brings you the voices and sounds of this historic and influential city.
Each audio journey leads you through the music, life, diversity and noise of the city.

For each chapter a word helps shape the journey, “home”, “fear” and “loneliness”.
This is London as you have never heard it before.
